Dare you be Happy My Child?

The world comes at the doorstep of India in search of happiness and satisfaction. When I see many foreigners roaming on the streets of Rishikesh & Haridwar, I wonder what we have to offer; when we Indians don’t have much to offer to our own kids. A recent study by HSBC ‘Value of Education-Learning for Life’ reveals that more than half of the Indian parents want their children to be successful in their job rather than being happy, healthy or fulfilling their potential.

The world is seeking Happiness, health and enough money to lead a comfortable life whereas we Indians just want to be successful at work. Can we term success equivalent to Happiness at life? I may be a continuous sales target achiever or revenue grosser for my organization but it does not guarantee time for family, a hobby or for lifelong learning.

We do not care that we give back to society but we expect a revolution in life. Parents in Countries like Malaysia and Indonesia expect their wards to be the contributors of social change and more than 60% of Chinese parents prioritize health for their kids; whereas the young Indians are burdened with tuition and coaching barring them from sports grounds as their parents expect them to be Doctors, Engineers and IT professionals.

Global parents see higher education as a means to build confidence and soft skills for success in life. The following figure speaks a volume about what kind of expectations the parents around the globe have from their kids. Can we honestly say the same for us?

Critical thinking, financial planning and cultural competency are the least important skills Indian parents would like to impart to their progenies. The success of any profession depends on individual leadership and efficient interpersonal skills. When you suppress the curiosity of a child as you deny him/her of an answer to an innocent question; please think again.

Aise Karega India, Toh kaise badega India…..

Mastering Interviews

bhabb bhabb bhabbb bhab................... The heart is ready to explode and brain is bursting on the seams. What are they going to ask?How will I answer their questions? Will my explanations be enough to satisfy their curiosity? What if I fell down while entering? My hands are sweaty ,it will leave a bad impression. So many Ifs and buts before an interview.  First of all Congratulations on landing this interview.Rejoice in the glory as many who applied  have not been asked to be there. Now the question is .....What makes the recruiter Tick? Psychology is more important than logic. What makes a few brands/people eternal is their grasp of human psychology. They know how to nail the stuff about us as human beings. They know how to handle the questions thrown to them.In fact they see beyond the question and decipher the coded meaning between the lines. "There are no stupid questions, but do you have smart answers?" Questions they ask and what they are really asking is differ...

Happiness-Truest and Highest Expression of You

What is Happiness? Surrounded by best of things! Surrounded by Best Of people! Travelling the world luxuriously! No sadness in the world! No Poverty! No pain! No war, No one Starving! Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Are you living in a Utopian  age? To quote Nataly Kogan,a corporate happiness sherpa, 'Happiness is not the absence of negative emotions. You’re not failing happiness because you feel sad or angry. Let yourself feel what you feel, but don’t lose sight of the little moments of warmth, compassion, or beauty that are always there, even if you have to wipe your tears to see them.' You Are Enough. You are lovable, amazing and deserving of true genuine happiness exactly the way you are. May be you have to align your thoughts more towards being mindful of your happiness but You don’t have to do anything more to earn it. You’re a being, not a doing. You are not your thoughts. You are not your feelings. They are part of you, but not the entirety of you. Learn t...

What If and Why Not?

Not Yet ……is the phrase to be used when we lose. Pick yourself up to strive one more time rather than say, ‘ I failed’ . When the focus is winning and success, we lose. People who are oblivion of winning and work for excellence, with passion and love; the success knocks at their door at the time when least expected. Best talents may remain hidden or be lost at the worst as they lack the grit to stumble and get up on the roadblocks on way to success. Lack of willingness to fail and start all over again is the root cause of failure not the absence of technical or life skills. All these skills are acquirable if you have the grit. REMEMBER: To grow a carrot, the farmer must give it fertilizer, water, and soil—but must allow for the carrot to grow and spread its own roots; only this way can the carrot find its path to the most nutrients to ensure the strongest growth. Same goes for us, learn the right skills, acquire knowledge and strive but do not focus on winning all time, our...
