Being Feminine is a Corporate Superpower Today

If Sheryl Sandberg ,COO of Facebook can feel horrified to learn that she ranked fifth most powerful woman in the world by Forbes, as quoted by her in her book 'Lean In',who are we to own our successes?

Its oddly observed that men can shamelessly brag and own successes which are not even their own ,whereas women fail to enjoy the fruits of their own hard work. They refrain the limelight and owe their successes to team and family when congratulated. This is not fair, not at all.

What make women do this? Parenting and societal norms ask women to be more flexible, adaptable and require them to do more than boys, giving the lame excuse that boys will be boys after all...Who has divided these gender roles.... History! We can not hold past responsible for all the wrongs done for long.Paleolithic era is over long ago. Biology....women can't handle that tough world, really? In today's age of automation,is this the excuse we have?

Work should not have a gender. According to Dutch researcher Geert Hofstede,"The dominant values in a masculine society are achievement and success; the dominant values in a feminine society are caring for others and quality of life". Is it not true that in fourth industrial revolution caring for others and providing better quality of life will fetch you achievement and success?

Traditional feminine traits are your hidden superpowers.Top 8 competencies desired for modern leaders are considered feminine as surveyed by John Gerzema ,co-author of The Athena Doctrine: How Women (And The Men Who Think Like Them) Will Rule The Future.

The recent World Economic Forum studies show that the employers of future are looking at ability to work collaboratively as prime factor in hiring, I see women bearing the most of burden as they are seen as collaborative and caring.

According to a HBR study,Men were 36% more likely to share knowledge and expertise—an informational resource. Meanwhile, women were 66% more likely to assist others in need—an action that typically costs more time and energy. It can lead to emotional exhaustion and burn out in woman. So being ready and acknowledged for their contribution is only way to shift the focus away from the gender of the employee and toward the value added.

So My Dear Women, no one accomplishes anything alone but the time today is best for you as world needs you. Be ready to hog the limelight and acknowledge your superpowers.

Adaptability for Post Pandemic Careers

The new normal post, Covid 19 is evolving. The work, business, economy; all are transformed. Social connection while maintaining social distancing became the key phrase. Remote and hybrid work, shortening of the supply chains, more local for local, regional for regional is the new usual. Structural changes in the business demand rapid transformation of the skills required to equip new job roles. VUCA discussions have been calling for new skills adaption in leadership but the new normal post covid 19 asks for changes at the graduate level for employability. This has far-reaching implications for higher education in general, and academic advising in particular, because it promises to provide the new paradigm necessary to provoke the paradigm shift of integrating career advising and academic advising called for by Hughey and Hughey in NACADA’s Handbook of Career Advising. The expectation for a lifelong career is no longer realistic because the nature and pace of change in the workplace

What If and Why Not?

Not Yet ……is the phrase to be used when we lose. Pick yourself up to strive one more time rather than say, ‘ I failed’ . When the focus is winning and success, we lose. People who are oblivion of winning and work for excellence, with passion and love; the success knocks at their door at the time when least expected. Best talents may remain hidden or be lost at the worst as they lack the grit to stumble and get up on the roadblocks on way to success. Lack of willingness to fail and start all over again is the root cause of failure not the absence of technical or life skills. All these skills are acquirable if you have the grit. REMEMBER: To grow a carrot, the farmer must give it fertilizer, water, and soil—but must allow for the carrot to grow and spread its own roots; only this way can the carrot find its path to the most nutrients to ensure the strongest growth. Same goes for us, learn the right skills, acquire knowledge and strive but do not focus on winning all time, our

Reconstructing Herd Mentality for Careers of Future

The world is flat but air travel is not available. The economy is planetary but pandemic made it local. Indian academia was trying to avoid and ignore the debate on online education whereas it established itself as a necessity. Work from home was a luxury and needed special sanctions, today it is essential and even mandatory for some job roles. Many are walking away from their jobs as the pandemic forced people to reevaluate their relationship with the job and their employers. "The Great Resignation" indicates the confluence of many factors shaped by the pandemic. Employers are forced to rethink ways to engage the workforce to stop attrition. The migration of the workforce indicates disruption of work centrality and peripheral values. The way out can be strengthening the core which will lead to more job satisfaction.  We humans should dedicate more towards  building skills for the unimaginable. The way out is building the core human values. Developing a stronger Personal
